Ear Coning
Experience the soothing benefits to gently clear the ears and help relieve sinus congestion.
We use superior quality ear cones which are hand-spun left and right in natural harmony with the body. They are made from 100% beeswax, herbal extracts and/or essential oils. The small end of the cone is seated in the ear and the larger end is lit.
In theory, the gentle vacuum draws out debris, depositing it in the cone. No heat is felt in the ear during each 10-15 minute coning. A soothing yet powerful experience, the spiral cone is enhanced by different herbal blends traditionally known to help the respiratory system.
Also known as ear candling, it is very relaxing. Many experience a clearing of the sinuses, Eustachian tubes and nasal passages. Ancient Egyptians, Native Americans and many other cultures used a similar process. Currently used in Germany as part of wellness care.
General Information
1. Each person is unique and the frequency of ear coning is best determined individually. It is typical to initially cone ears 2-3 times over a few weeks, then perhaps monthly or bimonthly thereafter. Excessive use may over-dry the ear. Ears are sensitive;don't over-cone. We recommend garlic/mullein ear oil which is useful to help soften earwax and soothe the ear canal.
2. Changes in elevation/air pressure affect the ears, sinuses and eustachian tubes; a coning may be beneficial following land or air travel.
3. In theory, the sustained vacuum and herbal smoke create the desired effect, drawing out the debris gently.
It's a relaxing, soothing experience!
When is ear candling a "no-no"?
It is not advisable to cone ears with discharge, tubes or other problems.
If the ear drum is perforated, if there are tubes in the ear, or if you have any rash or open sores/wounds in or
around the outer ear. Ear Candles will help with ear ache pain, but do NOT reduce infection. You should seek the advise of a doctor if any of these conditions are present.
